How do We Pray to God According to the Bible?

We have heard for years that there is a loving Heavenly Father who is willing to listen to us; but how do we pray to God and make our case unto His court of justice? It makes sense to do it as the Bible teaches; right?

This ancient book will guide us today in the 21st Century, to make prayers capable to touch the heart of the Heavenly Father with the Holy Spirit's unique inspiration.

With such power ready to be released, I decided to group in this page some iconic Bible verses related to this subject, and I typed in bold letters all phrases and words that are key to knowing how to pray.

Read each sentence carefully paying special attention to the highlighted words. Once you understand it, simply apply the tip to your prayer. Do it without second thoughts. Do it like a child would, with full faith.

Now get ready to reach the throne of God!

Let's learn now how to pray according to the Bible; here is the first verse...

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive - Matthew 21:22

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them - Mark 11:24

So He (Jesus) said to them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” - Luke 11:2-4

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers - Acts 1:14

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers - Acts 2:42

So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them - Acts 4:24

...making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you - Romans 1:10

...rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer - Romans 12:12

Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret - 1 Corinthians 14:13

...praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - Ephesians 6:18

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God - Philippians 4:6

Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day - 1 Timothy 5:5

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day - 2 Timothy 1:3

...who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear - Hebrews 5:7

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord - James 1:6-7

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered - 1 Peter 3:7

God, I Need a Husband

God, I Need a Husband

God of Love,

I raise my prayer to you.

Please help me find the man whom I can love without reservations; and that he may love me the way the Bible teaches.

I do not want to waste my time with casual lovers.

I want to unite with the man with whom I can form a thousand generations of blessed children.

Lord, the Bible says that you made man according to your image and likeness; please give me a husband who will behave like your true son.

God, I need a husband and I pray that...

He will be a good listener.

He will be a kind and giving person.

He will always be ready to help me when I need him.

He will never deny me his love, nor fail to his loyalty covenant.

He will be capable to forgive me when I fail, just like you forgave my sins.

He will not be a man given to affairs with other women; King Solomon failed this way and his heart was diverted from you.

He will always maintain his love constant and keep his faithful covenant with me.

He will be a gracious and compassionate husband; a man slow to anger.

He will be a man who knows how to fight in order to succeed in life.

He will always remember to show me his tenderness and affection.

He will love me so much that his love will reach to the heavens.

His love will comfort me in those difficult times in life.

His care will motivate me to keep going.

His love will last a lifetime.

His love will never end.

I will be able to trust in his love.

God, please help me to awaken my interest in all his projects and activities. I want him to know that I am her true partner in life.

Help me notice good reasons to speak well of how much he loves me.

May we live loving each other in times of abundance and scarcity.

I proclaim that...

- Only his love will satiate me.

- His love will make me sing of joy.

- I will rejoice in his love despite the anguish and sorrows in life.

- I will become a tender wife, charming and beautiful to his eyes; my love will captivate him at all times.

- I will flourish by his side while living confident in his love.

- His love for me will be better than life.

- I will enjoy the kisses of his lips more than wine.

- And together we will drink to the bottom the cup of love.

... Amen

A Prayer for Finances

A Prayer for Finances

God of heaven and earth,

Absolute owner of all gold and silver; I come before you today with this prayer, to invoke your help in my finances.

Lord, please multiply the product of my work so I can pay my debts, and then live with dignity.

I want to thrive in order to inherit a house and properties to my children someday.

But I am aware that good and bad times will reach everyone; so I need you!

I need intelligence and means to study on how to manage and invest.

Help me be smart and prudent in all entrepreneurship.

Give me wisdom to know even when it's time to reject money and goods to avoid the curses that they could bring me.

With this prayer for money blessing, I ask you please grant me the ability to do honest business that will never dishonor you.

I want to be a good servant of yours, capable of producing double the average.

I want to be efficient in all endeavors; that you may have the confidence to give me even more than you initially trusted me.

I prefer to live under the shadow of your wisdom than under the shadow of money; only your wisdom will give me life.

I will not depend upon money as you taught to your disciples.

I do not want to behave like a flatterer, nor make excuses to get money from others.

Help me to...

- Never make the mistake of loving money because it never satiates.

- Understand that money is not my friend.

- Understand that the love of money is the root of all evil.

And those who covet money are diverted from you, causing many evils to themselves.

Keep me from preferring money more than you oh God. Judas betrayed you for 30 pieces of silver.

Keep me from the bad reputation of being known as someone who loves money.

Instead, I will use my money to restore and repair the temple where your name is worshiped; and you will be exalted in the midst of society.

God, I promise you that...

- I will keep myself free from the love of money and be content with what I have; because you say oh God "I will never leave you nor forsake you".

- If by mistake I receive more money than I should while doing business, I will return it.

- If I lend money to any of your people, to my sisters or brothers; I will not treat them as lenders would. I will not charge them interest.

- If I have employed laborers, I will always pay them at the end of each day. I do not want them to go crying to you against me and be convicted of sin.

I will...

- Never accept money to hurt people; much less to your people Israel.

- Not accept ill-gotten money because I know that it will soon end.

- Not accept bribes of any kind.

- Not err using money to bribe judges and authorities.

- Not prostitute my body nor will obtain profits from prostitution; much less give you offerings out of those gains.

Everything you have already given me and even what you plan on giving me, I will care with faithfulness.

Please help me to organize my finances; I want to be able to set aside a portion to share with others.

I want to be like you Lord, a multiplier that satiated the hunger of the crowds.

I want to be a helper to others; there shall be no needy in my community.

I will serve people with love and not for money.

I will no longer be haughty saying that I will do business and will earn lots of money; Now I humbly say, "God willing, I will succeed!"

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.

A Prayer for a Wife

A Prayer for a Wife

Great God of love, today I humbly approach your throne to ask for your help.

I searched for the right woman to become my partner in life, but I have not found her.

I know that you are the only God who knows everyone, and you know who will be the perfect wife for me; a virtuous woman.

This situation is causing affliction and anguish in my soul.

Lord God, I make this prayer asking for your help. I acknowledge that I know nothing of true love, although I may have it in front of me. Please listen to me.

Lead me to her just like you helped Isaac to find Rebekah, and later Jacob to meet Rachel.

But then again I understand that I need to act like a man behaving according to your image, in order to receive your blessing.

I am praying for a wife and I promise you God, that in the meantime I will not have casual affairs with other women. I know they will divert my heart away from my wife.

All those teasing me now because I am single, let them be ashamed of their words when they see the woman you chose for me.

When I finally meet her, I will make my love for her to reach the sky and my faithfulness up to the high clouds.

My kisses will satisfy her, and my love more than any other pleasure in life.

My love for her will always be constant and my covenant will remain faithful.

My love will accompany her and will endure all the way.

She will trust in me.

I will...

- always remember to show her tenderness.

- be a husband who is always willing to forgive.

- be gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love.

God, with your help I want to be a brave man that she can respect.

I want to be like you Jesus, to be the first to help when she needs it.

Because I will love her, I will not give her my back, but I will listen to her.

I want to learn to love her in such a way that she will talk to everyone about my love for her.

Help us grow a stable love, practicing forgiveness and eliminating mutual offenses.

I would rather eat vegetables spiced with love to a selection of meats with hatred.

When we form a family, help me guide it with wisdom and love.

If we had to live through difficult times, help us never split up from each other.

Although I am not a perfect man, I pray that she will never hate me. Lead her to cover my faults with love.

I bless her so that she will become:

- a wife who cares and supports me in my work, projects and ventures.

- like an olive tree that is flourishing because she trusts in my love forever.

- a loving and lovely woman; so that her beauty and her love will always be enough for me.

I pray that she will...

- never deny me her love and faithfulness.

- display an inexhaustible love towards our union.

I declare that only her love will satisfy me at all times.

And together we will enjoy the delights of love forever.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.

A Prayer for the Sick and Suffering

A Prayer for the Sick and Suffering

When reading "A Prayer for the Sick and Suffering", replace the words "the sick", "this sick person", "this person" or any similar combination for the actual name of the person you are praying for. The whole text is addressed to pray for a sick woman, but feel free to replace it for a man as you need.

Please accept my prayer on behalf of this sick woman.

I present unto you the condition of her body that needs your healing. +

History shows that there is nothing impossible for you. King Hezekiah was near death but he prayed to you and you heard him. You healed him; you extended many good years of life to him and gave him powerful promises of victory.

Give me a word that I may transmit faith to the sick. And in her obedience, let her receive your healing as it was the case of Naaman.

Please provide a person full of the healing power of your Spirit. Someone like Elijah. He prayed for the son of that widow of Sarepta and he revived. Please bring in a person like that to pray for her.

If any man or woman of God comes to town; help me carry the sick to the meeting so that she may receive your miraculous healing. +

It is my desire that she receives healing like the citizens of Zion. That is your holy city. The place where you dwell. In there, none of its inhabitants are sick and their sins are forgiven.

Lord, remember the many occasions when she blessed others. How she fed the poor and helped the needy. You promised in Psalm 41:1-3 that you will strengthen her on her bed of illness and will sustain her on her sickbed.

Holy Spirit, I beg you to convince her to remain humble before God. Protect her from making the mistake King Asa made. He became ill but did not seek your help but only relied on the ability of physicians and ended up dying.

But I take the opportunity to also bless the doctors and the people caring for her. Let them all receive your wisdom so they can easily identify the cause of the disease. +

God, I beg you to forgive her if she has a proud heart. Help her understand who you are so that she may humble unto you. Do not let her suffer the destruction of her body, riddled with plague as was the king of Assyria.

I bless the soul and mind of this sick woman. May her faith be strengthen before you come to her. For sure the disbeliever will not receive your healing touch. +

Please give her a cheerful spirit during this time. I know this will help her to get out of her disease. +

Almighty Jesus, please hear this prayer for the sick.

Come by today and let her touch the hem of your garment. Allow your healing power flow to fully restore her sick body; as it happened in Mark 6.

Come Jesus, divine healer. Walk through the room where she is at right now, and take away all sickness and disease from her. +

Come in Lord. Look and see her condition. All she needs is the touch of your hand as you did with Peter's mother in law.

Jesus, the Bible says that large crowds carrying the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many more, were laid down at your feet; and you healed them. Please do the same for this person. +

Please heal her when you see her approaching you. I pray she will always follow you wherever you go. +

Stop by and see her waiting for you. Be moved to compassion and heal her from all sickness. +

Holy Spirit, give me the determination to visit her and bring hope. +

I will visit her as if it was you. I do not want you to rebuke me for ignoring the needy. +

Keep me from abandoning the sick to die; on the contrary, give me the resources to help her get out of bed and on her feet with full health. +

Lord, if you want to use me, then please bless my next visit to her. I want to anoint her with oil as your disciples did, and they healed many sick people.

I set my heart to receive the impartation of your power to heal the sick as it is written in Matthew 10:8. I will not gain money with your power. I will freely receive and will freely give it.

Lord Jesus, I believe in the power of your great name. I will put my hands on the sick and she will regain her health. Let this happen for your own glory! +

Holy Spirit help her understand that Jesus already took her infirmities and bore her sicknesses. Help her believe and receive it in order to be healed immediately. +

Father God, I trust your goodwill be done in her body and soul.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.

A Strong Morning Prayer

A Strong Morning Prayer

Another day starts, but things can change so dramatically fast and the new day could turn sour.

Do you agree? Then let's pray right now.

Add a melody background to this "Strong Morning Prayer" and elevate your soul to God's presence.
Just hit play "►":

Loving God,

I decide to start this day with you even before leaving my bed. +

This morning I will offer you praises, honor, gratitude and a humble heart before your great power; so they may reach you as pleasant aroma in your presence. +

I will get up to win this day and to create something new, beautiful and useful for the benefit of all, as you did in Genesis. +

Today I will perform my activities with all the strength you have given me; so efficiently, with commitment and professionalism that everyone will speak well of me. +

Help me to gain other people's trust with my excellence and honesty, so that no one has reason to accuse me or to chase me. +

While doing my tasks, please help me Holy Spirit to do the Father's will during this day. +

I ascend to your presence Almighty God and from this place I secretly fight my enemies with this morning prayer. I know I will then achieve total success in public. +

Now that I get out of bed, I will check all my equipment and I will march to win my battles in the name of Jesus. +

I will not be afraid to do what you God ask me today, as you will conquer my enemies because of my obedience. +

Confirm Lord your good word and my enemies will be defeated. +

I proclaim that today I will see the glory of the Lord, his signs and miracles along my day. +

I praise you my God because as I humble myself before you, I seek your help and obey you in everything; You are with me giving me your salvation for this day. +

Today I will be obedient to your instructions Spirit of God, and I know that today will be the beginning of my best days. +

Lord give me your provision today and allow the creation to favor me because I am obedient to you. +

On the other hand, forgive me if I have been rebellious; the last thing I want is to provoke your anger against me and my family. +

At the same time I forgive those who offended me. If today you give me the opportunity, I will solve my problems with them; even to achieve friendship with them. +

Today I decide to eliminate from my life all sin that separates me from you Lord, because I need to be on your side and live in constant victory. +

I will live in holiness because I know you my God can do great things in my life. +

Lord, please send tonight a powerful and courageous angel to remove any obstacle placed against me. Then I will rise tomorrow to exalt you for your great victories. +

I proclaim that this time tomorrow my eyes will see your salvation in my life. +

I commit oh Lord to be present before you every morning to thank and praise you for your great mercies that you will show me every day. +

During this day I will prepare my heart and my body to be ready to return again to you tomorrow my God, and thus start another day with you. +

... Amen!

Salvation Prayer - The First, the #1

From all prayers we can make to God, why should we say that the salvation prayer is the #1?

Well... #1 is related to the beginning of something; like for example: a baby's first day of life... first grade... first day of class... just to name a few.

If you had never before prayed to God from your heart, but you want to do it now for the first time, then the Salvation Prayer will be your #1 prayer that will help you to start a relationship with the Almighty.

It will not only be your first prayer, but will also become the most significant and important prayer you will ever make... get ready then!

Below you will find a prayer where you will:

SOURCE: IMAGES: PRAYER
Salvation Prayer - The First, the #1

- Accept that you are sinner,
- Accept that God loves you,
- Accept His forgiveness of your sins,
- Accept His salvation plan for your life, and...
- Accept Jesus in your heart as your Savior.

So, without further delay, analysis or objections, pray like this:
"God, this is my first prayer to you and I'm doing it because I need you.

I accept that I am a sinner and therefore out of your family and your kingdom. If I should die today my life will be lost forever and I do NOT want that... I want your eternal life!

But the Bible says that you love me so much that you gave your son's life so that he may die for my sins... Jesus did it instead of me!

Although I can not understand the magnitude of this sacrifice, nor the depth of your love for me, I can only humbly accept the gift of your salvation.

I accept your forgiveness for my sins. I confess with my mouth that you Jesus Christ are the Lord of my life, my only Savior; and I believe in my heart that the Spirit of God raised you from the dead.

For all of this, I now proclaim that I am saved and I have the right to be a child of the Heavenly Father; I now belong to your family and become a heir of all your blessings.

Thank you God. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Holy Spirit.

Amen!"

Congratulations... let me say that again... CONGRATULATIONS!!!

... by the way, did I tell you THEY LOVE YOU SO MUCH? ;)

Now, in one of the last lines of the prayer you declared: "become a heir of all Your blessings". Sounds good, doesn't it? Those are not just simple words but actual spiritual rights that you inherit for believing in the unseen God. Many of those blessings are due to become tangible and visible, it all depends on you.

- Where are those blessings written?

You will find them all in the word of God, known as Bible. All you have to do is read them and believe that God is able to perform as He promises you.
